What's your adventure?
Adventure. A word often heard to describe something very exciting, bold, risky, or an unusual experience. You may often wonder, if anything at all adventurous has happened to you. But something adventurous has happened to you. You live. Your life is an adventure. If you look around you, whether at work, school, or at home, something is happening. There are people all around you. People with quirks, funny laughs, weird hairdos, or strange clothes. Look up, admire the ceiling or sky, is the ceiling speckled, sparkly, rough or smooth? What color is it? What does the sky look like? Is vibrant blue, or is it dull, with a thick lining of clouds? Take off your shoes and feel the floor beneath your feet. Everything has a sense, a feeling, a color. Listen to people talk around you. Each person has a unique way of speaking, a way of movement. Everyone is different, unique. Everyone has a different adventure they're living.
One of the reasons I write, is because of one adventure I went on many years ago with my sisters. It was an adventure with four different colored poodle skirts and, an empty summer in my backyard. When you write, think about all of the details that happen in your life. Think about the people you know. Learn from them. It will make you a better writer.
Your life IS an adventure. Now, how are you going to write about it?

What an awesome way to look at life! It's so easy to put my blinders on and forget about all the interesting stuff around me. Thanks for the reminder! Good job, Mel :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Melanie! Life IS an adventure! Sometimes all it takes is opening up to our senses to find it. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Melanie! Yes, sometimes as Bilbo Baggins said going out your door can be an adventure. That's why I got started with this writing thing. I wanted to learn how to do it so I could do my personal history.
ReplyDeleteI started writing to learn how, too. How neat.
DeleteMy life is an adventure. Thank goodness I have partners in my adventure.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Have you ever thought that YOU might be person with the weird hairdo? Umm, me neither.
I almost put that in there. A comment to the effect of, maybe you're the weird one, lol.
DeleteWell put. Even the most ordinary event can be an adventure. Ask the missing sock monster in my dryer.
ReplyDeleteCan someone else live my adventure and I will take a nap? Any takers? Great post Mel :)
ReplyDeleteAwww! I love this! Mel is so awesome, and I am all about adventure! Fun topic! :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent reminder to notice the world around me. Everyday is an adventure. Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if life is an adventure every day ???? It's really - maybe it's .. blogging is an adventure for me and I do that everyday. Maybe we go on an adventure every day we take those legs outside the bed - I know that staying in bed can be an adventure too. *laughing. Great post.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting more adventurous, the older I get :-)
ReplyDeleteI think that all our lives definitely have adventure in them-- if we look for it! My son helps me remember that. A walk around the block becomes an adventure, and makes me see things a little different!
ReplyDeleteI love that adventure is the theme of your blog and part of your life! I hope to learn to bring adventures to life in my writing and I wouldn't mind an occasional adventure in my own life now and then.
