Benedict Cumberbatch?
Like the BBC's Sherlock Holmes?
He doesn't wear a doublet. (See below for proof)
and then that one time he wore that mock turtle neck with some sort of insignia
(who's excited for this movie to come out?)
NOT A DOUBLET
No doublet in that period film
(mustaches don't count as doublets)
And even in that period television series.
No doublet.
(That would be called a tuxedo.)
SO THEN, WHY?!?!
Because he's in the Sharp Dressed Man video.
What? No he's not!
YES, HE IS.
(0:13)
That's him with Ioan Gruffudd
(Who happened to be my first Hot Guys in Doublet HERE)
not in Horatio Hornblower like I thought at first
(I know, silly Shelly)
but in
AMAZING GRACE.
I loved that movie the first time I saw it
but neither Ioan or Benedict's names meant much to me back then.
Here they are in Amazing Grace
But Shelly, neither one of them are wearing a doublet
Well....
I cheat.
I count cravats.
Does anyone have a problem with that?
Plus, look at this wig and tights they made the man wear.
That's gotta get him on the list somewhere.
(Hee-hee-hee)
Here he is when they just makes his real hair look like a wig.
But he's still a good lookin' fella.
He's a talent actor and getting a lot of work right now.
He has four films coming out this year.
A whole batch.
You could say a
Cumber-Batch.
Yeah, yeah.
You knew I was silly when you started reading.
*dies* This is awesome. I loved Horatio but never saw Amazing Grace. I may have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteAnd now he's Kahn. How cool is that?
Oh, no. I didn't see him in the video. I'll have to watch it again. And again. And again... ;)
ReplyDeleteThis never fails to make me smile. Love Cumberbatch in Sherlock. And it's always fun when you go back and look at old movies and recognize a now famous face.
ReplyDeleteWhen I started watching Sherlock at my parents house my dad said he knew Benedict and we figured out it was Amazing Grace. My mom once said "he looks like a mannequin with those sharp cheek bones." My brother Brett asked if I caught him in The Hobbit, I didn't realize he was the necromancer
ReplyDeleteMmm, love him SOO much. I'm so glad you count cravats. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat accent gets me every time :)
