Characters on the Couch: I'm Hearing Voices Blogfest

by Chad Morris

I’m Hearing Voices

Alright. for the I'm Hearing Voices blogfest, here is an interview with one of my characters:

“So, Abby Craggbridge. Thanks for letting me ask you a few questions.”
“Um . . . sure.”

“What is your biggest vulnerability, and do others know this or is it a secret?
“Wow. These aren’t like get-to-know-you, girl's-camp questions, are they? Am I under some sort of evaluation? Okay . . . look . . . honestly, I know that I’m in the premiere secondary school in the world and I . . . don’t deserve to be here. I'm no genius. I didn't perform with some national symphony, or develop a new math theorem, or even star in a few drama on the prime sites. I'm just average. My most-famous-inventor-in-the-world grandpa got me in. Oh, and for the second question, I wish others never found out.

"What do people believe about you that is false?"
"I may be average in the sea of geniuses, but I think they overlook that I actually have something to offer. You don’t have to be gifted for that. You’d think geniuses would get it."

"What would your best friend say is your fatal flaw? Why?"
"Well, my best friend, who is also my only friend, would probably tell you much more than you asked. Seriously, she can talk faster than I can think. But she would probably say that I’m awkward, and a self-doubter. But hopefully that's not fatal. Of course, I'm not sure I believe what I told you for my last answer. That's probably not good."

"What would the same friend say is your one redeeming quality? Why?"
"I don’t give up easily, even when what I do isn't as good as everyone else. Grandpa says I have heart, the kind of heart some geniuses only dream about."

"What do you want most? What will you do to get it?
"I don’t want to let people my family down. I just never thought I’d have to save their lives. And I won’t ever give up until I do. "

She sounds pretty cool, but I'm a bit intimidated by her genius. ;)

    Awesome interview :)
