You're gonna want some points (or entries)

And the big points!
On Friday the 15th everyone's poems should be posted. Go around and comment on everyone's poems and get one point per comment (So, just for visiting 10 blogs and making a comment on each blog you will get 10 points. Yes, I am crazy enough to count these by hand on the 16th- so make it worth it!) If this works how it should, then you should get a lot of traffic to your blog on the 15th just for participating.
If you were directed to this blog by someone (their blogpost/tweet/FB post/word of mouth) and you are a new follower, TELL ME WHO referred you! Just post a comment and they will get 5 extra points for every referral!
You're going to need to comment and tell me how many points you earned from the follows, tweets, etc. Feel free to comment as many times as you'd like to.
(i.e. 'I just tweeted about the 'fest again')

WAIT! I'm not finished!
I (and my trusty helper) will pick the top 4 poems and post them here on my blog on Monday the 18th of July. Then it's up to you guys to vote for the winner.
What's the prize for winning?

So Are You Ready to Wax Poetic?
What kind of poem?
I DON'T CARE
That is why I called it poetry schmoetry
I'm not a poem snob
That is why I called it poetry schmoetry
I'm not a poem snob
It doesn't have to rhyme
It doesn't have to have meter
If you call it a poem, then so do I
My only warning; I have a short attention span.
If your poem is really long, I will just stop reading it.

Here are some ideas
This is so fun Shelly. The world needs more poetry and I since I've been home with my kids I haven't been able to earn points--I miss it. Count me in :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun- I have you up on my blogfest tab- I do poetry so if I get the opportunity in between classes-kids-and homework I will sign up and post one of mine :)
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies! I'm glad you think it looks fun!
ReplyDeleteBut I must admit, I think something must be wrong....
I have had over 70 views and 2 sign up.
Would anybody be willing to tell me what I can do to make this blogfest better? You don't even have to sugar coat it. Tell me like it is. I learn faster that way.
I'm a little slow I didn't realize I had to sign up.
ReplyDeleteMaybe people are a little intimidated? You could give them an example of a funny or simple poem that you would accept. Just thinking here :)
I'm not sure what the linky is for?! It seems like there is no need to sign up unill july 11th, because that is when the contest starts, right?
ReplyDeleteoh- after re-reading it seems that you sign up first and then post the poem in july! i've gotta read a little slower :)
ReplyDeleteJust signed up!
ReplyDeleteYay! Thanks guys!
ReplyDeleteCome'on Lisa...you know you want to...
I'm in :D
ReplyDeleteBeen a LOOOOONG time since I wrote a poem.
I am definitely not a great writer, but hey, poetry is fun :) I am in!!
ReplyDeleteI have signed up! Now I am off to tweet. I tweeted once . . . but that was before I decided for sure I was in!
ReplyDeleteMichelle BIG THANKS! Ten just feels so much better, and that you'd tweet it for me, too! You're pretty much wonderful!
ReplyDeleteGet down Shelly Brown! Wonderful contest!
ReplyDeleteStan, you're the man!

Then I'll take a point for following the blog and another for following you on Twitter (Joyce_Lansky). I also get five points for posting my poem. Wahoo! I'm on a roll. Thanks for stopping by and following.

ReplyDeleteThanks for sponsoring this blogfest, Shelly! Sounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteI heard about your blogfest through Katie on Fiction and I'm totally in.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a lot of fun. I'm in! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog and signing up for my blogfest too. You rock!
Okay, I followed. That's a point.
ReplyDeleteI tweeted this week: that's one more.
I put the badge with the linky to your blog in my sidebar: that's two more.
And I posted about it on Facebook: that's another.
So my points for THIS COMMENT add up to 5 points. I hope I am doing this right . . .
Just learned about the blogfest from Ellie Garratt. This is right up my alley, as I've been posting a weekly poem/song each Monday for quite a while now. I'll have to post something exceptional this time around.
ReplyDeleteDang! I thought I had signed up already! Oy! Well, I'm here now and ready to parTAY!
ReplyDeleteI love poetry! I'm in!
ReplyDeleteI've never really been a poet, so this will be fun to experiement and see what will happen!
ReplyDeleteI'm a little late, but this sounds fun!
ReplyDeletePoints! Wow, this is exciting, sort of like playing basketball. I followed your blog (1), I follow you on Twitter (1), I posted a poem (5), I posted about you and this event on Twitter and Facebook for the last three weeks and on my blog for the last two weeks (8), I posted your blogfest button (2), and put you on my blog list (2). That brings me to 19. (Can my the armpit poem I posted can count as a tiebreaker.) Expect that I am going to comment on every single poem - I really want a week with Shelly.
ReplyDeleteI found this contest through another blog I follow (thanks Summer!) and I am taking the plunge into poetry because this just sounds like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteAnd.... posted! Thanks, Shelly, that was fun!
