Lets have a party!

I'm planning a
holiday!

I hope you'll join me, Jolene Perry, Randy Lindsay, and James Duckett
for
Captcha Craptcha Day!

I know it's catchy.

I'm hoping to get as many bloggers (all over the blogosphere) involved to educate other bloggers about the dangers of captcha.

What danger, you ask?
Captcha is evil. It takes too much time. And did I mention that I hate it?

So what do you say?
On Monday November 12th who wants to post a post about why you hate captcha? On my blog I will be posting a post on how to remove captcha from your blog (posted midnight the night of the 11th) and if you want you can link to it to educate those who wish to change their ways.

No blog? No problem.
You can Facebook and Tweet this stuff as well.
In fact feel free to to all three.
Use it on November 12th, liberally.
Saturation is the goal!

James Van der beek told me that he hates Captcha as well.

(Here's the HTML code if you want it:

<a href="http://writingwithshellyandchad.blogspot.com/2012/10/lets-have-party.html"><img src="http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q734/shellybrownwriter/Craptcha.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket"/></a>

Just copy and paste that in HTML happy places)

If you love captcha, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to insult you...just captcha.

Here are some beauties to inspire you.

So are you in?

  1. Oh this is the best idea ever!! I hate the guts out of Captcha too. I am on board!

  2. Oh my gosh! This is brilliant! I think the biggest problem is that a lot of newbie bloggers don't even know they have it. As part of the blogfest, I say we tell anyone who has the dang Captcha that they have it so we are no longer annoyed!

    1. I've thought about doing that. We just have to be nice because, like you said, they might not even know it's there. So, YES, but be nice. :)

  5. I'll do a post in advance, too, since I'll be on a blogging hiatus for NaNo.

  6. Done. And are you going to have them disallow anonymous commenters? Because doing that's killed 99.9% of my spam.

    1. That's the kind of thing you can talk about on your post. People can do whatever works for them-as long as it's not captcha

  7. Very much in favor! I have to check with the blog partner, but I think we should be participating.

And...LOL at the information on audio captcha. Wow...

  10. Hahaaha this is the best idea ever! Captchas make me feel so stupid because i literally can't read most of them unless i hit refresh about a 100 times. I have escaped their tyranny by using a captcha bypass browser extension called rumola to fill them all in for me! Would recommend to all you captcha haters out there!

  11. I stumbled on this after having to leave two blogs in a row because their captcha wouldn't work for me. THIS is an excellent idea. :)

  12. TOTALLY. I hate that craptcha crap. It asks "are you human?" then I get it wrong, and for days I question if I'm really human...

  13. Captcha always makes me feel all of my 48 years. Dang, even with my Wally World cheaters I can't read half those numbers and letters. Seriously? It reads like old people drooling. Must. Eliminate.

  14. Cool idea. But I already blogged about this a few weeks ago.

I hope those who are using them get the message. The Captcha is driving me insane. Especially when I go through the stress of getting it right, only to find out the blogger has comment moderation on. :P

  15. Heard about you from Emily King. I'm glad you're doing this. I'm a Captcha-free crusader. I even have free blog buttons people can snag from my blog to advertise. Instructions, too. :)
